Wings of Cappadocia is a feature-length documentary that explores the extraordinary bond between humans and horses in the magical landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey. Set against the backdrop of fairy chimneys, ancient caves, and floating hot air balloons, the film follows Tuba Öztürk, a young Turkish horsewoman, as she navigates the challenges of preserving traditional equestrian culture in a rapidly changing world.

Through breathtaking aerial cinematography and intimate storytelling, the film captures the spirit of freedom, resilience, and the deep connection between horse and rider that has defined Cappadocia for centuries.

The Director

Dunya Alatva

Award-winning Syrian filmmaker based in Istanbul, Turkey

Born in Damascus in 1992, Dunya studied Radio, Television & Cinema at Istinye University, graduating in 2023. Her unique style combines narrative depth with stunning visual artistry, creating films that resonate on multiple levels.

Her early works include the documentary Loss (2017) about Syrian citizen journalists and the short film Mubah (2022). Her breakthrough came with Darb Zubaida – A Hiking Trip (2024), which earned numerous international awards and was featured on Emirates Airlines and Shahid (MBC).

Wings of Cappadocia is her debut feature-length documentary.

Ístanbul merkezli ödüllü Suriyeli yönetmen

1992’de Şam’da doğan Dunya, Ístinye Üniversitesi’nde Radyo, Televizyon ve Sinema eğitimi almış ve 2023’te mezun olmuştur. Kendine özgü tarzı, anlatı derinliğini çarpıcı görsel sanatla birleştirir.

Ílk çalışmaları arasında Loss (2017) belgeseli ve Mubah (2022) kısa filmi yer alır. Atılımı, Darb Zubaida (2024) ile gelmiştir. Film çok sayıda uluslararası ödül kazanmış ve Emirates Airlines ile Shahid (MBC) platformlarında yayınlanmıştır.
